Hi there! Welcome to the place where I write about stunning weddings, beautiful families, and my own journey. So glad you're here!

Hi, I'm Sherah!

Evan + Anna | A Vintage Winter Wedding

Jan 17, 2020

Anna wore her sister’s veil, her grandmother’s earrings, and her great-grandmother’s necklace. Her wedding dress was covered in the most intricate needlework of delicate floral vines (she’s getting a PhD in horticulture after all!!). They shared traditional wedding vows, a gentle nod to the millions and millions of marriages that have gone before theirs. Anna and Evan’s wedding day was a picture of beauty and grace, filled with support from their closest family and friends, and a celebration of their sweet love. They met during graduate school at Iowa State, and their love bloomed slowly, over the course of a few years. Evan and Anna are deep thinkers, generous and kind, polite and lovely. It was a pleasure to capture their wedding day!

We were a bit concerned about the weather (understatement?!). Marty and I can confidently photograph an entire wedding indoors, but there’s truly nothing like outdoor portraits on your wedding day, and I was truly hoping for that for Anna and Evan!! Chicago forecasts were all over the board, but snow and ice and rain and wind and freezing temps were all contestants! We prayed, and just went with it, and wouldn’t you know, it worked out beautifully?! It was COLD, but it didn’t start sleeting until just as we were finishing up our outdoor portraits (you might catch a tiny streak or two of ice in their photos, if you look closely?!)! We worked fast, and I was so grateful that we were able to capture a variety of portraits for our sweet bride and groom!

Enjoy the beautiful church, their gorgeous reception, and the gentle, sweet love that’s so evident between these two 🙂

Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora is absolutely stunning. Gorgeous architecture, clean lines, and white walls. Breathtaking!

After the ceremony and receiving line, we took portraits in the church, and I love the feel of these classic black and whites.

Next up — a quick round of portraits outside, before we were off to the reception!

And an epic exit to end the evening!
