Rachel and Matt’s Lincoln Park Engagement Photos
Rachel and Matt’s Lincoln Park Engagement Photos were so much fun to capture! BUT, here’s what you need to know about how things went down for their session (it’s a good story). We had already rescheduled their engagement session once, and as their new date approached, our warm, early-October temps slooowly started to slide down into the 60s, and then the 50s, before landing in the 40s on the day of their session! Add in a wind advisory for good measure, and I wasn’t sure that these two would want to go ahead with their session. So that morning, I texted Rachel to give her an out, just in case she wasn’t up for it… and she responded that they were both excited and willing to just GO FOR IT!
We met at Lincoln Park’s beautiful South Pond area that afternoon. The whole sky was covered with clouds, like a big giant softbox of light, and even though it was windy, it’s wasn’t unbearably cold. (To be fair, I was basically wearing boots and a parka. My opinion 100% does not count.) But in spite of the cooler temps, Rachel and Matt didn’t complain, and didn’t stress. We strolled down the nearly empty boardwalk (a rare sight on a Chicago afternoon in October), and the beautiful light combined with the sweet chemistry between these two made for the most beautiful portraits. They just laughed, and we talked about wedding plans as we walked around, looking for beautiful trees and views of the skyline. And the more time I spent with Rachel and Matt, the more I confirmed what I already knew to be true: that these two are the real deal, that they take things in stride, and that they love each other with a sweet, deep love. What a privilege to capture their beautiful love.
