Carolyn and Will have been together since April 2017, and Carolyn had an idea that an engagement ring might be coming… but when Carolyn’s friend called one afternoon to cancel their after-work cocktail plans, Carolyn didn’t think twice about it. Will called just a little bit later to see if she wanted to grab drinks on the Riverwalk, and she happily agreed. They were walking along the Riverwalk, and Will stepped into one of the alcoves and looked down into the water. “Do you think people fish here?” he asked. Carolyn quickly looked over the side and said, “I hope not!” She turned around… and there he was, on one knee, with the most beautiful ring and the biggest smile! A few moments later, Carolyn’s sister popped out from her hiding place — she had photographed the whole thing for them!! Carolyn is a planner, and it’s tough to surprise her, but Will pulled it off!!
I love these two, and we had such a fun time wandering around North Avenue Beach and Lincoln Park’s South Pond boardwalk on a sunny Saturday afternoon! We started at the beach, and it was WINDY, but they trusted me and I’m so grateful!! We captured some gorgeous portraits of these two — Carolyn used to live in an apartment on the lakefront, and it was even more special to get her old building in the background of some of our shots!! I also love the VARIETY we were able to capture during this session, from the cool, chic, urban vibes of the lakefront to the warm, glowy, vibrant hues of the South Pond boardwalk!
Carolyn and Will — Thanks for trusting me to take these portraits, even in the middle of a busy afternoon on the lakefront with people everywhere and some crazy wind!! These pictures were worth it!! You two are so much fun, and we can’t wait for your wedding next year!!
